Ukrainian Levkoy Cats
History
This breed of cat was created in Ukraine by Elena Biriukova. The breed was created by crossing hairless Donskoy females with Scottish fold males. The result was a hairless cat with ears that folded over forwards. Oriental and non pedigreed cats were also used to develop this breed further. Biriukova had achieved the final look by 2004. This is a fairly new breed and is only currently recognised as a breed in Russia and Ukraine.
This breed was called the Levkoy cat because of its bent ears which resemble the bent leaves of the levkoy plant.
Behaviour
The Levkoy cat is a very sociable cat that enjoys human interaction. They are a fairly docile cat that gets on well with other pets. This breed is known for being very vocal, especially when they are hungry. They are playful cats and need mental stimulation, otherwise they can become mischievous.
