Schietti Modena
History
This fancy breed is of Italian origin and its name is derived from the city of Modena where it was bred over 14 centuries ago. Selectively bred over many years the breed comes in many different guises but two of the main which stand out are the Gazzi and Shietti.
Varieties
The Shietti is coloured with an array of markings, mainly grey with a glossy bronze colouring, more unusual colours could include barred and chequered patterns. The Modena is a full chested bird with a rounded head and a short tail. Along with other breeds the Sheitti Modena are all descendants of the Rock Pigeon (Columba livia).
