Surprisingly, yes - chicken really do seem to recognise their owners. In fact, research has shown that chickens are capable of recognising up to 100 human faces, so it won’t take them long to learn who their owner is.
Chickens - love at first sight
A way to get your feathery friend to recognise you faster and lose her fear of you is to spend time with them in the early days. Make sure they see you when you are putting out the food each morning. This will help the chickens make the mental link between you and food, meaning they will very quickly take a liking to you.

I have a rooster name Nugget he walks right beside me as we're walking to the coop and if I stop and I'm talking to the girls (hens) he'll stop too and then when I start walking he'll start walking he never runs ahead of me always beside me

Yes they certainly do recognize their Mamas ! By face and voice ! Mine come running up to me when I get see and hear me ! They even copy my tone of voice ! When I tell them to come up into their coop for the night I say " Up up up " and some of them especially one whom I call Cupcake will cluck 3 times every time I say it ! Lol ! She really looks and listens to my voice ! She also asks questions and raises her voice like she's asking questions like I do to her ? She tries real hard ! She is the head chicken also ! Mother hen , lol !
