A guinea pig that is well looked after can expect to live happily for between five to eight years, but some can live for substantially longer. Many live into the double digits - apparently the world record for guinea pig longevity is Snowball, a guinea pig from Nottinghamshire that lived to the grand old age of fourteen years and ten months.
Guinea pigs can live for many years
Guinea pigs can live to a ripe old age, so be sure that you (and anyone else who will be helping you look after it) are fully commited to the animal for the duration of its life. These animals are fantastic pets and will be your valued companions for many years, but they do require daily care and have some regular upkeep costs. Before you commit to a guinea pig, make sure you're prepared to look after it for its whole life.
